The United Arab Emirates is rated as one of the world’s top emerging markets, and although the region’s incredible rate of economic and physical growth has slowed in the aftermath of the global financial crisis and resultant economic downturn, there is still an abundance of investment opportunities for those who know where to look.


As an investment company initially focused on real estate and financial services, Emirates Investments Group sources unique business opportunities in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia. We identify new prospects and well reputed companies in target sectors with a view to create a suitable financial product. Our investment portfolio has expanded to include Trading, Industry and Aviation.


We pride ourselves on adding value in the development phase of an investment, through providing sound due-diligence, access to our network of first- and second-tier investors, global alliances, and legal and financial expertise. Successful project development is carried through to the subsequent handing over to the day-to-day management, while retaining substantial long-term revenue enhancement.

Tariq bin Faisal Al Qassimi

CEO Profile

Syed Tariq Husain is currently the CEO of Emirates Investments Group (“EIG”)that focuses on private equity and venture capital investments mainly in the food and agri sector. With EIG, he has led establishment of various food and agri projects mainly in the region, particularly the GCC in partnership with leading international food and agri companies.


Overall Tariq has more than 30 years of work experience, of which last 14 years have been focused on private equity investments and real estate; food and agri investments; and Islamic banking and structured finance, Islamic insurance and fund management.


Previously, working for EIG, Tariq established and managed a new Commercial Islamic bank in Pakistan (Emirates Global Islamic Bank) which, under his leadership, grew to 60 branches in three years and was finally merged with another prominent International Islamic bank (Al Baraka Bank).


Earlier, Tariq headed the Islamic finance and investment divisions at Dubai Investment Group before which he had a fifteen year career at ANZ Bank and ANZ Investment Bank. He had senior assignments in leading activities focused on Shari’ah compliant investment banking, real estate investments, Ijara fund management and Takaful businesses.    At ANZ Bank, Tariq headed heading various  diverse regional and country-specific divisions and functions including treasury, planning and strategy, retail banking and internal audit.


Prior to ANZ, Tariq’s career assignments were mainly in audit and accountancy with top-tier accountancy firms in UK, Canada and Pakistan.  (Deloittes;  E&Y;  PWC)


Throughout his career, Tariq often led the charge of establishing, and expanding, start-up ventures, businesses and divisions. He has strong working relationships with a large number of institutional investors and family offices in the region.


Tariq is a qualified chartered accountant from England and Wales (1981).  Subsequently he qualified as a Chartered Accountant from Pakistan (1987)and Canada (1986).


He also has an MBA in Finance and Accounting from Schulich School of Business,  York University, Toronto, Canada, (1977).
